The UNEP Finance Initiative is a unique partnership between the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the world of finance. Over 170 financial institutions, including CBR, are now signatories to the environmental commitment declaration UNEP FI’s mission is to identify and promote links between the environment, sustainable development and finance.
CBR and responsible property investment
In early December, CBR started to engage in a working group organised by the UNEP FI, whose mission is to promote property investment that is responsible in regards to environmental, social and financial criteria, while still respecting companies’ fiduciary commitments. Specifically, the group aims to show the positive relationship between responsible investment and returns from the property sector, and how the principles of responsible investment can be applied to property assets, portfolios and finance. Also on the working group’s agenda are the development of tools, best practice and expertise, as well as network building.
The construction sector is responsible for 40% of the world’s greenhouse gas emissions.
